On Saturday the 20th of April, Karin opened the ‘Banksy meets Basquiat’ exhibition at the Lionel Gallery in Laren. Gallery couple Lionel and Kim Logchies are displaying artwork of not only the famous British street artist Banksy, but also work of the late Jean-Michel Basquiat, a contemporary of Andy Warhol who likewise started as a street artist in New York City. The exhibit is on display until the 20th of May in their gallery. A special meeting of two unique socially critical artists of different times in a beautiful gallery, definitely a must see!

Thirty years ago, Piet lost his heart to the water sports paradise, both above and below the water, Bonaire. He even constructed his own private residence on this island. Nowadays, visitors can see his signature throughout Bonaire and can even experience a dream holiday in a beautiful luxury beach villa, designed by Piet Boon®. His timeless designs use local materials such as coral, palm leaves, concrete and wood to create beach houses where cooling island breezes sweep right indoors. The villas offer a perfect retreat for even the most discerning guests.

Starting today the beautiful porcelain of the Japanese ’1616 Arita’ can be ordered at the Piet Boon Store. This is one of the oldest porcelain manufacturers of Japan. The company which was founded in 1616 is known of the high quality hand painted porcelain dinnerware. The set of Scholten & Baijings, ‘Colour Porcelain’ consists of three designs: Minimal, Colourful and Extraordinary. The name of each design indicates the degree of finishing touch (colour, pattern, details). Together with plates, mugs and bowls they also designed dishes, candleholders, vases and a tea set. The collection is made in typical Japanese colours as aquarel blue, light green, red/orange and ochre yellow.
Brought in to provide the Piet Boon® design philosophy of “simple sophistication” to New York City, we have had the great opportunity to design the transformation of 404 Park Avenue South from a seventeen story office building into a luxury residential building called ‘Huys’ (pronounced ‘house’) offering everything from studios to 4 bedrooms.
Built on a reputation of total design concepts, our work at Huys is no exception. From the exterior design to the interior residential and amenity plans, finishes, and including the public space styling of furniture and accessories we have created a total Piet Boon® design.
Respecting the original architecture, we retain the building’s ornament and bone structure while the windows are enlarged and will be opened out to bring new life to the façade. Continued in the interior, our design allows for light filled interiors emphasizing high ceilings with exposed beams and warm natural finishes.
This month (January 2013) we will start with the construction of the Headquarters and Distribution Center of Riverdale at Nootdorp. The exterior as well as the interior of the building has been designed by Piet Boon®. Through a stepped green gable, which crawls along the building like a Balinese rice field and the horizontal segmenting of the long building, it perfectly meets the requirements of a highly visible prime location. The office which forms one of the five segments of the building has a distinct identity due to the horizontal alternating layers which clearly distinguish the floor, the parapet, and the glass façade.
Our front page cover this month was shot by the very talented artist Rahi Rezvani. Rahi Rezvani (1978, Iran) is an Iranian artistic image maker based in The Netherlands. Rezvani’s work is mostly dark and consists of high contrast black and white portraits, filmic still lives and scenic images.
Using both modern and historical photo techniques, Rezvani has created an unique esthetically visual language. With his black eyes and black beard, shy way of speaking, he looks like he is stuck in his own magnificent fantastic mind. The fantasy place where he broods amazing images depicting beauty and framing them with his own emotion and energy.
We are very impressed by his work and we are not the only ones, with a client base know all over the world such as, Willem Dafoe, Ruud van Nistelrooy and …
To see his work go to www.rahirezvani.com

The Piet Boon® Studio designed the new construction and the renovation of the main building of the AA. The building has six floors, consisting the head entrance, traffic zones, multifunctional rooms, restaurants, bars, restrooms, counters, etc. The AA is of international allure, partly due to the sustainability policy. This is also one of the reasons why we were contacted for advice. It is the home base of AJAX (football club), which makes it more special, because Piet is a loyal supporter!
The AA is a location for events of several categories: from Champions League matches to Sensation White to product launches of multi-nationals.

We are very impressed with the Ned Ship company and the sophisticated charm of their yachts. We recently visited Willowsford in the state Virginia (at a one hour drive from Washington, USA), together with K. Hovnanian Homes. Willowsford, voted “Community of the Year”, is a high end development with a rich history and situated in a remarkable natural landscape. The community has formulated tight regulations for the architecture to guarantee unity between the image and the surrounding landscape.
K. Hovnanian Homes asked Piet Boon® to design two pilot villas fitting within the regulations and combining with the local style, but still are totally Piet Boon’s. Earlier this year Piet Boon® completed a successful project of villas for K. Hovnanian Homes in Arizona.
Gerd Kanz is the maker of one of our most favourite works of our own art collection. The intense, almost glowing blue, the special texture and tactility of his work have an enormous impact on the setting, without being dominant. During the years it has shown to be a perfect combination in different settings. It is one of the artistic works that keeps fascinating us.
Kanz is not only a painter, but also makes objects.

Styling is constantly searching for unique art objects. Art, more than anything else reflects identity and personality, and plays a major role in all our projects.
Jeong Myoung-Jo’s life-size hyperrealist oil portraits immaculately portray Korean women in traditional dress. However, Jeong distinguishes her portraits by uneasily forcing the focal point away from the familiar, the visage, to the back. Though Jeong distinguishes the women through their dress, her deliberate removal of the face and any movement allows viewers to reflect on their own position in time, as characters looking forward, but always bound by the past.

We are looking forward to another exciting season with an interior program on the Dutch network RTL TV. Starting August 25th we will give the audience in eight episodes a great insight behind the scenes of our design studio, in the way we think and into our philosophy.
With our team we will tackle a wide scope of make-overs of interesting projects. From the conversion of a snackbar into a stylish small holiday retreat near the beach, to an apartment and a compact family home with a troublesome greenhouse with a seemingly uncontrollable leak. Real challenges for our team, but like last season the smiling faces afterwards are the best reward we can wish for. We also consider it a great opportunity for our company to show we can and are willing to work and think from any budget.
The Piet Boon Wallpaper Collection by Dutch label NLXL was highly successfully introduced last May, during the New York design week at ICFF.
Piet Boon: “We were absolutely stunned when we first visited NLXL. Both production methods, level of quality and the company's unique expertise and passion were a real eye opener. We are very proud of our Concrete Wallpaper. The result is amazing in every aspect. One really has to touch it to feel the difference with the real thing.
Concrete with its sober, subdued character is one of my favorite materials’. NLXL is known for the launch of the Scrapwood Wallpaper collection in 2011, brainchild of founder Rick Vintage and designer Piet Hein Eek.
Recently, our Belgian dealer ‘SB interieur’ launched a beautiful solid outdoor kitchen made from teak wood and stainless steel. Sliding the steel top will reveal a luxury stove and a professional bar. Especially for this outdoor kitchen Piet Boon designed an elegant outdoor stool. This simple slender stool is based on the practical Piet Boon RIK chair and is available in our store.
In cooperation with DTCH®, Piet Boon® has designed a sophisticated collection of curtains, wooden and aluminium blinds, roller-blinds and cushions. Strong architectural lines were the inspiration for this collection. De collection has been designed around the theme 'Pleat', with pleats, clean lines and subtle stitching. The collection has a subdued colour palette with a white, a deep blackish grey and light grey (mist, graphite and white). The different colours and materials from a matte coloured wood, a rough canvas to a sophisticated satin are easily combined. Piet Boon blinds by DTCH® makes it possible to use them in the entire house and create a different ambiance for every room.
The collection is exclusively available in the Piet Boon® Store and on the DTCH website.
We are jumping in and out planes, crossing time zones. From a luxurious penthouse in a state-of-the-art exclusive project on a historical site in Taipei, to the Big Apple. At Park Avenue we are transforming a former office building into 60 luxury apartments, elsewhere in town we completely redo a formidable, beautiful townhouse.
Back in our own hemisphere we are engaged in the design of a games building. An extension to the glass houses of a Scottish mansion which includes a cinema, family room, pool and four luxury guest suites.
Our plane to Hong Kong is almost ready for take off. More about that next time.
In a ground breaking collaboration with K. Hovnanian® Homes® we have developed and built Line K, a new community of luxury homes in Scottsdale, Arizona’s exclusive Pinnacle Peak Place. It is the first time an Arizona homebuilder developed an entire community of semi-custom homes featuring (quote): ‘interior and exterior designs by a luxury brand of this calibre’.

Just like any other month of the year, last month has been busy. Members of our Studio and Styling team have been flying from Asia to the United States and back.
They went to Arizona, where we are involved in the development of 20 residential houses in a gated community in Scottsdale. We are excited that, within a few weeks, we will finish the interior of the model house, entirely designed and styled by our team.
In Taiwan we attended the kick-off of a project in a very special area in Taipei. We have been asked to design and style a penthouse apartment in a five story building that is currently being developed.
After months of work, we styled and delivered an exciting private residence in the center Paris. Also we styled and delivered a Bonaire beach house and re-styled a residence for our upcoming styling book.
Last, but most certainly not least, last week we finalized the re-decoration of the entrance, lounge and restaurant area of Delta Lloyd headquarters. Even closer to the studio, also our project with Amsterdam Arena, home of AFC Ajax, is taking shape.

Ever since they launched their first project ‘Metropolis’, a landscape of tableware, we are a big fan of De Intuïtiefabriek; a collective of four female designers: Amba Molly, Carolina Wilcke, Eefiene Bolhuis and Eva Gevaert.
To them, as it is to us, design is all about craftsmanship; the touch of material and the actual act of making things. It’s their aim to create perfectly crafted products, from which you can feel the love with which they were made. They create a pure, precise and almost fragile feeling, taking the observer into a beautiful new world.
Their latest project, a commissioned piece for Chateau de la Resle in France, concerns a breakfast buffet made of solid oak, coated steel, porcelain and glass.
See their website for more information.
Our new book, Piet Boon 3, was celebrated with a great book launch in our Global Headquarters end of November. At this event our guests, as well as our partners Land Rover and Technogym, KitchenZone, Bod'or, Van Haneghem and Lavital, together with our dedicated team, were the reason that this event was both successful and enjoyable. Furthermore we would also like to thank Rafaele Uva from Cucina Uva from Neck for the delicious catering.
November was a busy month for both our Studio as Styling team. Some of the Studio team members went to New York and Arizona in order to follow up on the process of our projects there, and some went to Monaco to review a new project.
Piet was invited at the prestigious Trespa Design Center in New York talk for an interested audience. Together with the international acclaimed artist Rachel Hovnanian, who’s work we greatly admire and is part of our art collection, the evening was highly educational and enjoyable.
November 11th, De Dag van de Duurzamheid (Day of Sustainability) Piet Boon signed the Green Deal with Amsterdam ArenA, iconic landmark of the city of Amsterdam and the international sports world. Amsterdam ArenA has developed an ambitious 5-years plan to make the stadium more sustainable. The goal for 2015 is to be CO2 neutral, produce less waste and use less water. To achieve that ArenA signed a Green Deal with 34 partnering organizations who will actively help achieve that goal. Recently Piet Boon signed a contract with Amsterdam ArenA for the interior design of the expansion and renovation of seven floors of the main building of ArenA.
As always our Studio Team members are busy travelling abroad to visit our different projects. December was no exception, and team members went twice to New York for a technical meeting. Other team members went to Denmark, visiting a tab factory near Aarhus, and having an inspiring architectural tour through Copenhagen.
The last meeting abroad in December took place in Londen, having a technical meeting with a client, the local architect, suppliers and the contractor to review plan and status of the building.
To complete the SAAR family we have created the perfect table. The table is a simple 3 piece wooden table, but has a catch. The legs of the table are adjustable. With the legs placed more towards the middle of the table you can sit comfortably at both heads of the table. You can place the legs at the end of the table top creating more seating space along side the table. Or for example in smaller homes you can place on leg at the end of the table top and one leg more towards the middle creating optimal usage of space.
You can choose from a variety of different woods, oak, botane and walnut. This enables you create the perfect combination between table and SAAR chair.
Come to our store for a demonstration, or get in touch with one of our Collection retailers. Want to know more right now? check out our SAAR table product page and download the leaflet.
To complete the KEKKE family we have created a very innovative table. With its curved edges, the table has been designed with social dining in mind, which means that during lovely dinerparties you can hold a conversation with the full table instead of the person sitting next to you. Its sleek steel foot is in chic contrast to its slim top providing a uniquely stylish and luxuriant dining experience.
You can choose from a variety of different materials for the table top, oak, walnut and Magic white or Magic black a specially develloped matt finish. The steel foot is available in black and white this enables you create the perfect combination between table and KEKKE chair.
Visit our store for a demonstration, or get in touch with one of our Collection retailers. Want to know more right now? Check out our KEKKE table product page and download the leaflet.

One of the art pieces from Dutch artist Fleur Goedendorp's Accessory Collection, has given us great inspiration for one of our styling projects.
Graduated with an Bachelor in Product Design from the ArteZ School of arts in Arnhem, Netherlands, her work has been exposed in both medias as well as in exhibitions; among others "Exhibition 2F2M" with Droog design in Las Vegas, at the Dutch design week in Eindhoven and during Amsterdam International fashion week.
Coming from a product design background, the constructions that she has developed were originally meant for an interior product purpose. But When she then looked closer at the shapes and textures that she had made, she found movement in these constructions, as well then knew how to influence and expand that movement. These newfound volumes began to interact with the volumes of the human body, giving them the look and feel of richness and wealth.
The richness and wealth of these pieces are not to be found in the materials, but in the love and attention for the making process. Therefore the pieces are made out of cheap basic materials like paper, foam rubber and meat rope to emphasize the craftsmanship. Because as Fleur says: 'wealth is craftsmanship'.
All pieces of this collection are inspired by wealth from the golden ages to military costumes and African jewellery. The foam rubber collar on the picture is made out of hand cutted foam rubber bands, knotted together with 884 knots. The collar has been produced while following the shape of the human body.
Our long awaited long awaited third monograph 'Piet Boon Book 3' has finally been launched in the Netherlands and will very soon hit the international book stores as from now on and throughout the beginning of next year.

Last month we released an update to our website with some new features to inform you even better and keep you updated even more; like today.
New projects like the Asia Residential Resort in Korea, the Lake Side Villa in Denmark and the Floating Home in The Netherlands have just been published to the Portfolio.
October has been a busy month on the travelling scheme for the Piet Boon® team, travelling from Paris to Arizona. In Paris all deliveries for furniture for a private residence took place and our Styling team members went there to be present and to follow up.
Other of our team members went to Arizona for a development of 20 residential houses in a gated community in Scottsdale. Last we were in the South of the Netherlands for a onsite meeting, to start the design on a large office/family house which used to be a farmhouse.
The sculptor behind these beautiful, pure and meditative wood bowl sculptures is Lars Zech; living in the South of Germany near Stuttgart. His atelier is situated close to the Black Forest, where he buys old trees that have been cut down due to disease or security reasons.
Each sculpture is made out of one piece of wood, weighing up to 800kg. By turning this old wood into beautiful sculptures, the beauty of the tree will be maintained for ever.
Piet Boon 3 is the long awaited third monograph by Piet Boon®. It presents the most beautiful and recent projects for luxury villas in Portugal, South Africa, Denmark and South Korea, but also a compact city apartment in Amsterdam and a beach villa in Bonaire.
These projects provide a magnificent overview of the high level of professionalism, the unique specialization and expertise of the four divisions within the design studio.
This publication clearly shows the influence of Styling, headed by Karin Boon, creative director of the company. Since the beginning, she has been instrumental in defining the Piet Boon® style, especially when it comes to creating experience and a warm atmosphere in every project. Signature details give each house the unique luxurious identity that characterizes the works of the studio and the brand.
The internationally acclaimed British interior photographer Richard Powers took the pictures for this lavishly illustrated book.

We are big fans of Guy Leclef.
Essential, original, material, sensible - all the main characteristics of Guy Leclef's work. A genuine artist, constantly searching for the truth, he allows us to discover objects and structures as they really are.
Guy Leclef is obsessed by paper. He aims to give the collages a rhythm, rhythm as building material for a harmonic score. His paper collages are sometimes mannered, but never monotonous and yet it is pure simplicity.
With his book compositions he strives to put order amidst chaos. Adding colors only perpetrates his quest for harmony and peacefulness. As such, his creations will not leave us untouched. Besides being exhibited at our Headquarters, Guy also has exhibitions at RR Interieur, with www.Pas-Partoe.be in Mechelen (Belgium) in October 2011, Ensemble Christian Liaigre in November 2011, F. the Gallery, Delvaux and Pan Am.
Our Styling department has got a keen eye on Kurt Pio. Taken in by the beautiful and vibrant botanical paintings he creates.
Kurt Pio specializes in acrylic painting, water color, charcoal and Japanese ink, and over the last six years most of his production has been in the form of commissioned art work from a varied and diverse range of clients such as: Tokyo Sexwale, Cecile&Boyds interior design (for Singita Private game reserves and their showrooms), Keith Design (for Southern Sun, Tsogo Sun and Zimbali Hotels), commissions for local homeware stores like Weylandts and Boardmans and the Anthropologie stores in the U.S.A.
His primary professional area of interest is natural history, mainly indigenous botany. This interest arose from the many hours he spent in his grandfather's garden, and the fascination with the rich diversity of fauna and flora that his home town, the beautiful Cape has to share. He also explores colonialism and the influences it had and still has on design in his country.

For many years now we have admired the work of American interactive contemporary artist Rachel Hovnanian. We have given several of her works prominent display at our Global Headquarters, drawn from her successful exhibition "The Power and Burden of Beauty". Exploring concepts of beauty, and the weight of beauty's toll, she renders her work in stark tones of black and white, stripping away the non-essential.
Rachel Hovnanian studied at the University of Texas in Austin where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts. She continued her studies in New York City at Parsons School of Design, The Arts Students League and the National Academy of Design. Her work is exhibited internationally, at Cat Street Gallery, Hong Kong, Aina Nowack, Madrid, Artra in Antwerp and includes work on view at the Manarat Al Saadiyat, AbuDhabi, and is represented by Leila Heller, LTMH Gallery in New York.
Mathieu Nab is a renowned Dutch sculptor known for his magnificent sculptures made in marble, wood and stone. Mathieu applied to study art at the State academy of fine arts Amsterdam (Rijksakademie van Beelden Kunsten Amsterdam) where he began his training as a sculptor and graduated from in 1989.
His art pieces have since been exhibited in private and corporate buildings around the globe, including our own showroom at the Piet BoonÆ Global Headquarters in Oostzaan. Vistors to our showroom will be able to enjoy the beautiful "Circulo" sculpture (height 155cm), which captivates the viewer with its soft lines and feminine forms.
Made by azobe wood, a very strong and sturdy wood material that lasts for years, the sculpture can be placed both indoor and outdoor. Mathieu Nab found his inspiration for the "Circulo" sculpture from the beauty of the form and curls of a womanís hair, translating these sensual shapes into the wood. "Art is a way of life, a passion I express my feeling of wonderment and amazement for the beauty of life through my sculptures and wish to awaken it in others. That is my calling as an artist" (quote Mathieu Nab).

Piet Boon® and renowned Dutch television company, RTL, have joined forces to produce a rejuvenated version of the popular NL interior design program 'TV Woonmagazine'.
A modern take showcasing our "dream homes" worldwide, including Piet and Karin's own home, which highlights our design philosophy. As well as demonstrating how our design vision can be translated into your own home by providing a Styling make-over for a selected Dutch family within set budgets and requirements.

Recently we finished our latest project on the beautiful island of Bonaire, Punt Vierkant. Five royal beach houses located at one of the most comfortable places on this caribbean island, according to Piet.
The houses have been build aiming at the sun, with maximum privacy. Actually, the new house of Piet and Karin on Bonaire was the inspiration for these beach houses on Punt Vierkant; of which some are still for sale.
Playful art sculptures by well known artist, Francois van Reenen, are exhibited at our new Global Headquarters at Skoon 78, Oostzaan. Two large-scale dogs (one in gold waiting patiently and the other in black standing on guard) are keeping a watchful eye over us and our office premises. Both sculptures add a fun twist to the interior design planned out by our Styling team.
Francois van Reenen is inspired by the American toys and comics of the 1950's, and is known for his work as an animator sculptor and painter. Located in Cape Town, South Africa, and having completed a degree in fine arts at Stellenbosch University in 1992, Francois has further been experimenting with 2D and 3D animation. For most of the creation processes he combines computer assisted design with the old school techniques. At the moment he is working on a larger life portrait titled "Sleeping dog" of Truman the French bulldog.
July has been a busy month in particular for our Studio and Styling departments. The month started off with a Studio team visit to Edinburgh (Scotland) to present a fitted furniture design for a residential house.
Other Studio colleagues travelled to Zurich (Switzerland) to present the first design proposal for an office building which will be transformed into apartments. New York was again also part of the travelling schedule, where the final design for our 404 apartments on Fifth Avenue was presented, followed by a technical meeting thereafter.
The last two cities our teams visited in July were London and Antwerpen. In London we advised on a remodeling of a residential building, and in Antwerp we visited a new location for a high-end restaurant. In addition to the above, a lot of good design and projects going on in The Netherlands.
The first kitchen dealers that will sell all three designs of the Piet Boon® Kitchens by Warendorf line are Kitchen Zone, Stormink and Carpentier Haute Cuisine.
These Piet Boon® kitchens can be experienced at first hand at KitchenZone in Oostzaan, Carpentier in Aalsmeer and Stormink keukenstudio in Gorssel. You can visit your nearest showroom for inspiration, as well as receive professional advice from our teams. On June 30th, our partner Fetim held an event for all their international dealers to introduce the new Piet Boon® Flooring.

Impressed by the unique patterns and authentic colors, our dealers all recognized the potential to service a new market and a different customer.

You can choose from a variety of different materials, fabrics, leathers and oak. Which enables you to assemble your perfect chair, with endless possibilities of mixing and matching materials.
The arm rests which until now were only available upholstered, are now also available in all Piet Boon® Collection oak colors.
Karin Boon and photographer Richard Powers continue to travel the world to capture the latest private residences and corporate projects designed and styled by Piet Boon®. The photography will soon feature in our upcoming Book 3.
This past month they photographed the spectacular resort model villa in Asia and a beautiful private residence just outside the city of Copenhagen (Denmark).
As reported in May, the model villa is situated in a high-end, ecologically based, private residence golf and ski resort and cosists of 149 luxury villas and apartments, including a museum of the famous Tadao Ando. The photography taken of the sample villa designed by Piet Boon® helps to illustrate the diversity of projects we undertake, as well as the firm foothold we have carved out for ourselves worlwide.
The Danish home is a warm and stylish family house, finished with contemporary and timeless materials, and very recognizable as a Piet Boon interior. The owners bought the neighboring property in order to make a large extension, including a separate swimming pool. After helping them with some exterior adjustments, we also created a completely new interior lay out (changing almost every room except the living area). This project is a prime example of Studio's collaboration with local architects, whereby the client gets the best of both worlds.

In June our Studio team members visited New York, London and Asia. New York for an on-site technical meeting to follow up on our luxury apartment building project on Park Avenue. Then another on-site meeting in Asia to check in on work in development, and a private residence in Londen was also visited for an on-site meeting regarding technical as well as styling advice.
We opened our doors to one of our preferred photographers for half a day to capture some stills and footage of our team at work. From our Studio department through to Styling, Collection, Licensing, and Brand Developmen, the photographs capture work in progess and are able to give you a sneaky peak into a-day-in-the-life-of Piet Boon®.

Piet Boon® Global Headquarters is open to visitors by appointment only.
As mentioned last month, Richard Powers has been travelling all around the world with our Creative Director, Karin Boon, photographing the latest private residences and corporate projects designed and styled by Piet Boon®.
This past month Richard was shooting here on home-ground, as he photographed a recently completed Woonark and our new Piet Boon® Global Headquarters.
The Woonark is a contemporary, two level, 120m2 boathouse located on a harbour in central Holland. With a minimalist and modern interior fitting of it's surrounding landscape, it contains a master bedroom with dressing area, guestroom, laundry and storage area, large kitchen, and a covered terrace which becomes a living room during the warmer summer months. Basically a houseboat that has everything one could wish for in a home.
Our previously mentioned new Global Headquarters at 'Het Bos' (a 6662m2 office complex designed and styled by Piet Boon® in Oostzaan, Amsterdam Area) was also photographed for the upcoming Piet Boon Book 3. The book which will be launched in September/October this year.
Luckily it was a relatively sunny week for The Netherlands, so we were able to photograph (as always) using only natural light, which allows us to capture the moment as honest and authentic as possible - Typical Piet Boon®.

In May the Piet Boon® team visited Paris, the French Alps and New York. Our Styling team went to Paris to follow up on the interior design and styling process in a private residence apartment, followed by a trip to the French Alps to review a winter chalet, that will be re-styled in the Piet Boon® atmosphere, including new floor layouts.
Some of our Design team members visited South of France for a technical on-site meeting, and other Design team members went to New York to a technical meeting to follow up on the process for the design of the luxury apartment building on Park Avenue.

As posted last month, Solidfloor has just opened a shop-in-shop in de Bijenkorf, Amsterdam. Amongst other Solidfloor products, the new Piet Boon® Flooring by Solidfloor collection is showcased. The range consists of five different designs available in eight natural and earthy colors.
You can find the collection on the third floor - in the furniture, carpets and flooring section next to the windows facing the Beurs van Berlage building. The presentation has already been a big success. We were glad to see that as soon as the stand went up, the first purchase of the "Herringbone floor" was already made.
Please click here for more details on retail points in your area.
This month two of our Licensing partners, Warendorf Kitchens and Bod'or Doors, will both open their new showrooms in 'Het Bos'. The showrooms are situated in the same building as our Global Headquarters.
Amongst the product lines exhibited in their showrooms you will be able to find the three kitchen lines designed by Piet Boon®, a selection of our bathroom furniture, new door designs (amongst them, the "New Amsterdam", which are also the selected doors for our new office space), and other related Licensing products such as our door handles and bathroom accessories.
Please drop by to view the assortment.
Piet Boon® Collection will participate as contributor at the Pink Ribbon Event taking place June 4th, at Houweling Kunst van 't Wonen at Aphen a/d Rijn. The event has been initiated by Gert de Jeu, owner of Houweling Kunst van 't Wonen at Aphen a/d Rijn in order to fundraise money for breast cancer. For this event Piet Boon® will contribute with three DIEKE loveseats, whereby one of those will be painted live by Piet Boon together with a surprise guest.
For the next three weeks you can bid on one of the DIEKE loveseats, and last weekend in June they will all be sold on an auction to support The Pink Ribbon. Being hand painted by Piet Boon himself, the personal decorated DIEKE loveseat will be very unique and outstanding. Follow next months journal and read everything about how the event went.
The back wall in our new canteen at our Global Headquarters has been decorated by the known Dutch Illustrator and Graphic Artist Tiquestar Illuminat Rex alias Maurice R. van Zante.
We got familiar with Tiquestars work through advertising completed for Carhartt®, and love his masculine, pure and clean street art design. The wall graffiti decoration he has made in our canteen, is in great line with the aesthetic design of our interior design of the canteen as well as of the rest of our Headquarters. Besides the big graffiti wall decoration, our tables and chair setting are from Piet Hein Eek from his recession serie “Crisis”, and the lighting is from Moooi’s “Dear Inco” serie. The lounge setting is from our own Piet Boon® Collection, the Duko sofa.
See more of Tiquestar Illuminat Rexs work at tiquestar.com
It took us 2 days plus an Easter weekend to move into our new Global Headquarters at "Het Bos", but we're settling in and adding the finishing touches to our new facility. As previously shared, the 6662m2 office complex is located in Oostzaan (Amsterdam Area) and designed by Piet Boon®. Construction of the second complex will be finished at the end of the Summer, and we're looking forward to sharing the two complexes with other partners and companies interested in renting or buying space to work alongside us.
There are still some rental offices available in our building and the new complex will be for sale. If you're interested and would like to enquire for more details, then please do not hesitate to contact Paul Silva da Cruz.
The long awaited Piet Boon Book 3 will soon be published – available this Fall, October 2011. From private homes in Europe and Africa, to a new residential resort in Asia.
Together with our new photographer, Richard Powers, the breathtaking photography captures the true essence of Piet Boon®.
Richard Powers is a world-renowned, self-taught photographer who grew into his career out of a passion for interiors and architecture. Travelling the world with the Piet Boon® team capturing places of beauty has been a unique experience for him, "wherever in the world I shoot a Piet Boon® house I feel instantly at home - their subtle approach to reflecting an owners personality and location is seamless and their attention to detail means I never have to compromise an angle".
